At its core, lecture capture technology is invaluable in terms of helping students succeed and graduate from college. However, it can also be a big investment for any institution, especially if you are limiting its use to the classroom environment.
To increase your lecture capture ROI, try using your LCS outside of the classroom. Here are a few ways to get you started:
1) Incorporate lecture capture into your Disaster Recovery Plan and enable students to continue learning in the event of a natural catastrophe.
2) Record committee meetings and guest lectures. Make them accessible to those who were unable to attend.
3) Record and post instructional workshops for professional development purposes. For example, your Admissions office could use lecture capture to showcase a new technology being implemented in the department. The Human Resources department could record a session on "How to Handle Conflict".
4) Record and post tutoring segments from specific departments for students to review. For example, the Office of Academic Affairs could post a recording on "Improving your Study Skills". The Library could record a short session on "How to Access Newspaper Articles."
5) Provide online orientation using lecture capture for Freshmen or Graduate Level Students. Include a quick recording from each department chair so that students get to know them and what they do.
